A peek at posts to come…
Whilst this post isn’t a content post in itself, I hope to give you, my readers an idea of the topics I hope to cover in posts to come.
Running doesn’t require much equipment, a part of the appeal you may argue. The essential item that it does require though, a decent pair of running shoes, requires a wise choice. As such I will be reviewing a pair of shoes that I am currently using, the Asics Gel Nimbus 14s, and comparing them with their predecessor, the Asics Gel Nimbus 13s to see how they have changed. I will admit now, I’m not going to go through the specification given by Asics or any of the major shoe companies used to advertise the shoe. My review will focus on the more important bits, how the shoe fits, how hard the shoe is underfoot, what sort of training I have done in the shoe, rather than the more abstract ideas which the shoe’s design centres around.
I’m a bit of a data cruncher and as a result I acquired myself a Garmin Forerunner 310XT at Christmas. In my second review I will be analysing my Garmin’s performance vs my expectation of the watch when I bought it. I will also look at how the watch compares with more modern models. Whilst there are more modern models out there, the Garmin 310XT has lots of features meaning that it is really useful for somebody wanting to analyse their own performance.
Away from reviews, I have a couple of posts in my ‘thought bubble’ (for a definition, see below). Language is something that I am really interested in, perhaps that’s not a surprise considering that I’m an English Language undergraduate! I intend to write about some of the comments and observations non-runners come up with that we, as runners, consider strange as we are so used to what we do! I’ll also look the other way, at the quirky phrases that runners’ come up with which fox our non-running comrades.
For those of you who were wondering what I meant by ‘thought bubble’:
Thought bubble: The place where ideas for my blog are stored before being committed to the computer screen.
I hope that by outlining what I expect to do in the next month or so, I have given you enough to be excited about in the weeks to come. Whilst I love running and blogging, I’ll be going back to univeristy in mid-September so I hope to blog regularly until then and a little less frequently thereafter. I’d like to thank you in advance for when the time comes that I won’t blog as often (about once per month I expect) and hope that you will continue reading the content that I publish.
Until next time,
Happy Running!
