Sniffle Sniffle Cough Cough

So this last week I’ve been full of a cold and by now I’m desperate, absolutely desperate to go for a run, if only for a bit of fresh air and FREEDOM!  I’m in my 3rd year at university which means that the merde has hit the ventilateur and I have to sit about and read a lot of articles whilst thinking of how to analyse them *yawn*.  In fairness, some of the stuff I’m reading is vaguely interesting, like how a child with learning difficulties struggles with language acquisition, but it means that I’m short on time to go out and exercise and ultimately have fun.

Returning to university also means that I’ve had to endure Freshers Flu.  I’m a third year, not a Fresher so why on earth do I have it?  People should call it the-illness-you-get-when-you-return-to-university-after-summer-flu but I suppose that doesn’t have the same ring to it so ‘Freshers Flu’ will have to do!  Anyway, I’m getting over it now and, although I’ve missed badminton tonight for the third week in a row due to Thursdays being really hectic for some reason at the moment, I think I might be able to get back to storming down those pavements at some point in the next few days.  Running is meant to make you more immune to illness, I’d love to know how many colds I’d get if I didn’t run in that case as I seem to pick up every bug going!

The nights are drawing in which means one thing, running at night means running in the dark, not in a beautiful sunset.  That also means that when I get back from university I won’t be able to go running down some of my more interesting routes.  With darkness comes restriction and with restriction comes repetition of the same ‘safe’ routes which are well lit and well-populated etc etc etc.

So, no running to report unfortunately but hopefully by the time I post next week I’ll have been out for a couple of times again and be a little less ratty.  Also, I have a full review and comparison of my previous few pairs of running shoes – Brooks vs Mizuno vs Asics – game on!  In all seriousness, I’m not going to come out here and proclaim that one shoe is the greatest and you should all go out and buy it because it’s the best model since shoes were invented because that’d be stupid.  We all find different shoes more comfortable because we all have different feet and different preferences.  The aim of my review, and it’s taking a while because I want to get it right, is to talk about the different brands and what I use the different shoes for.  I hope you guys will find that interesting!

Off to get another drink (non-alcoholic!) to settle this cough!  Night folks and have a good run when you next venture from that front door!
